Obituary for Wilhelmina (Billie/Mina) H. Conway Morris

Wilhelmina (Billie/Mina) Conway Morris, 82, passed away on September 2, 2017, at 8:10 pm at Martin Nursing & Restorative, Stuart, FL. She was born on November 10, 1934 to parents Rita (Steffy) and James Conway (both deceased).

She was raised in Camden, NJ and graduated from Woodrow Wilson Senior High School in 1952. In 1958 she married F. David Morris, and the couple lived in Santa Barbara, California for a few years. In California, she was a Bell Telephone Operator known for her soothing, pleasant speaking voice and skill as a switchboard operator. After returning to New Jersey, the couple settled in Pennsauken for the next thirty years. She had two children and was actively involved in their elementary school (St. Cecilia’s) in the PTA, as well as volunteering with PYAA and the Girl Scouts. She was a stay-at-home mom and provided the very best childhood and growing up years to her children. Her later career included lead dispatcher for Terminal Vending Company for ten years as well as office work at Congress Title Corporation. She moved to Port St. Lucie and Nettles Island - Jensen Beach, FL in 2013.

She was an avid reader and loved to crochet and do crafts. She was known for making the most beautiful hand-crocheted baby blankets. She was predeceased by her husband, F. David Morris and sister, Constance Conway. She will be sorely missed by her surviving children and grandchildren including: son, David Morris of Aldan, PA; daughter Joan Morris Councillor (Ronald) of Port St. Lucie, FL; daughter, Karen Dessin (Ed) of Franklinville, NJ; four grandchildren: Joseph Mcpherson, Ashli Dessin Kegge (Brian), Haley and Jake Councillor; and five great-grandchildren: J.R. and Matthew Mcpherson, Lexi, Jada, and Sarah Kegge.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church (2330 SE Mariposa Ave., Port St. Lucie, FL 34952) at 10:00 A.M. with a luncheon following at noon at Buffalo Chophouse (918 SW Gatlin Blvd., Port St. Lucie, FL 34953).

Anyone wishing to remember Billie/Mina with a donation is requested to donate to Treasure Coast Hospice who took excellent end-of-life care of her and her husband in the past year.
