Obituary for Stephen Frank DiLeonardo

Stephen F. DiLeonardo passed away after a long battle with cancer, in his home with his spouse Carol by his side. Born in Philadelphia, PA and raised in Glendora, New Jersey. Steve & Carol settled in West Palm Beach, FL to build their life. Survived by his mother Frances, brothers Michael, Anthony (Carol), nieces Marie, Anna, Elizabeth, Honey and Angie. His extended family John & Kathleen Getler, John (Lori), Kathleen Allen (David), and Patti.

Steve began his career as a metal sculptor; he mastered a unique & artistic skill known to few. His style has emerged as one of today's most enrapturing expressions of creativity. It's impossible to miss his contribution to Boca Raton's YMCA. With a 12; Aluminum sculpture in the shape of a Y. As well as a hand crafted globe in a private school entrance. Steve had several sculptures purchased by private collectors. In addition, Steve has had his work displayed in gallerias, public buildings, & private collections.

Steve then went on to start Zenith Manufacturing Inc., from nothing and built it a well-known and respected business. He always did what he loved and ZMI was his pride and joy. From welding a chair, building a balcony, stairs, or fabricating a room for the Casino; whether it is for a restaurant or high roller room, he never over looked the smallest detail. Gaining a reputation in the industry for quality work at a high standard. Steve's work can be found all over Florida and across the country as well as other countries.

His second love was racing. He spent years in Jersey racing all over. From Atco to Englishtown and tracks in between, if they had a race he was almost always there. In 1992 he was track Champ at Atco. Once his business was established in FL he returned to racing. Buying a dragster which he tore down to the frame and redid every inch of it. From the wiring to the dash and everything else was done by him. Along with the trailer he customized for it. It was his entire baby that he created. Something he was very proud of. He looked forward to the weekends to go racing. Whether it be Palm Beach International Raceway, Immokalee, Brandenton, or another track he tried to be there. He always said the track was its own world with great people. For him it was definitely his happy place.

His love for racing was contagious and his work respected. His friends meant the world to him and the kids kept him smiling. May we hold him close in our hearts and cherish the memories we each have with him. For now he is in heaven listening to Zappa with his dad racing his heart out, winning rounds.
