Obituary for Robert 'Bob' Earl Dimmitt

Robert "Bob" Earl Dimmitt, 97, of Hobe Sound, FL passed peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at Hospice House.

He was born in Los Angeles, Ca., and was raised in Iowa, Kansas, and California. He attended San Bernardino High School and Junior College. For 17 years, he resided in Trenton, NJ, followed by Pensacola, FL (35 years) and currently Hobe Sound, FL for the past 5 years.

Robert proudly served in the United States Navy. He served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. During his career, he was shot down in the South Pacific, and later became the executive officer of the USS Princeton. A few of his many treasured medals include the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Purple Heart, and the Air Medal. After serving in the Navy, he flew as an Aeronautical Inspector for New Jersey Department of Civil Service.

Robert was a member of Wings of Gold, MOAA, Order of Daedalians, Kaneohe Klippers, ANA Goshawk Squadron, and Naval Aviation Museum Foundation.

Religion played a major role in his life wherever he was stationed. He was a faithful member of the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit in Pensacola, FL, for 35 years and of St. Christopher Catholic Church in Hobe Sound, FL.

He was predeceased by: the love of his life last year, Kathryn (Kitty) Dimmitt; his parents, Florence Dimmitt; and Grant Dimmitt; and his stepmother, Juanita Dimmitt; and son, Roger Dimmitt.

He is survived by his loving family; son, Robert Dimmitt of Ft. Pierce, FL; daughter, Claudia Shipman of Hobe Sound, FL; grandchildren: Jodi (John) Gonzales of Marathon, FL; Kristin (Winfield) Reed of Marathon, FL; Lisa (Carlos) Dorta, of Hobe Sound, FL; and Katie (Cody) Beard, of Hobe Sound, FL; great-grandchildren: Sara and Adam Gonzales; Kayleigh and Jacob Reed; Alexander and Alivia Dorta; Caden and Avery Beard.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit this Thursday, November 30th, from 5-7 pm at All County Funeral Home and Crematory, N. Stuart on Federal Hwy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Hobe Sound, FL, followed by Committal Service at South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth, FL at 12:45 pm.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations can be made in Robert's name to The Treasure Coast Hospice. Arrangements entrusted to All County Funeral Home & Crematory - Treasure Coast Chapel.
