Obituary for Richard Eugene Turcotte

Richard Eugene (Dick) Turcotte, age 88, of Greenacres, FL passed away June 16, 2017. He was born in Worcester, MA November 6, 1928 and was a long-time resident of Liverpool, NY.

He is survived by his sons Roger Turcotte (Deborah) and Brian Turcotte (Donna), and granddaughters Alyssa Turcotte, Jocelyn Turcotte, and Maria Turcotte. He is predeceased by his wife of 57 years Dolores Turcotte and brother Robert Turcotte (Shirley).

Richard served his country in the United States Army rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Richard could strike up a conversation with anyone. His passion for people was evident in his career first as an auto parts salesman, then as a food broker, and later as an award-winning auto salesman with Burdick Mazda. Richard was also incredibly talented with tools. He remodeled the family home in Liverpool and built two campers, which were used extensively for family vacations. He also constructed a 16-foot sailboat with which he navigated the waters of Onondaga Lake. Richard had a special place in his heart for all the young and young at heart. His love for children extended far beyond the family tree – he was “Everyone’s Grampa.”

Having retired with Dolores to the West Palm Beach area, Richard was most recently active in the Buttonwood community where he resided. He enjoyed riding his 10-speed bike each morning, deeply valued his relationships with his fellow residents, served on the community’s Board of Directors, and gained the endearing nickname “Mr. Hollywood” for establishing an ever-popular Movie Night tradition.

A memorial service is scheduled at All County Funeral Home, Del Lago Chapel, 131 S. Lakeside Drive, Lake Worth, Sunday July 9, 2017 from noon to 2:00 pm to be followed by a Celebration of Life reception at the Buttonwood Community Clubhouse, 3370 Shadow Wood Drive, Greenacres.
