Max (Mel) Melvin Marshall, beloved husband and father, died 1 March 2017 in Port St Lucie, FL at the age of 88.
Mel grew up in Medford, MA with a great passion for sailing and the ocean. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War, and then attended Boston University. For 29 years, he taught science at the Academy Street and Robert H. Brown Middle Schools in Madison, CT. During the summers, he taught sailing at the Madison Beach Club and at several children’s camps on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. He also enjoyed family camping and travel, beginning with local outings in a tent and then several cross-country and European trips by motor home.
In 1990, Mel retired to Port St Lucie, FL. There he continued to enjoy lifelong interests in travel, camping, and square dancing.
Mel will be greatly missed by his wife of 61 years, Evelyn Marshall of Port St Lucie, FL, his two children, Debra Marshall Ford of Kailua, HI and William Ross Marshall of Clinton, CT, and his many wonderful friends and neighbors.
