Obituary for Lena Raines

Lena Marie Raines was born on December 18th, 1952 in Suffern, New York to Charlotte and John Heisler. She had two brothers, John and Donald Heisler. She left this life on Wednesday, July 5th 2017 to be reunited with her beloved husband, Roger. Lena left behind her daughter and son-in-law, Tausha & Martin Houck; son and daughter-in-law, Shane & Joan Raines; daughter and son-in-law, Stacey & Paul Burk; Grandchildren, Shanea Houck, Tessa & Steven Rigdon, Allee Houck, Jeremy Raines, Savannah Raines, GraciLyn Raines, Noah Burk; Great grandchildren, Lux Holden and Carter Rigdon.

Lena Raines was also known as Nana. She was a devoted wife, a supportive mother, a doting grandmother, and a remarkable friend. Lena was artistic, intelligent, unique, brutally honest and loyal to those she loved. She believed in soulmates and having one true love, she missed her late husband very much. Lena spent her recent days taking care of her great grandson, Carter. Carter was not the only grandchild she had taken care of. Each of her grandchildren have been lucky enough to be cared for by her regularly, allowing her to unknowingly shape them into unique, confident, and strong-minded individuals who see the value in moments and do not let opinions or fear of failure keep them from being true to who they are. Lena encouraged loved ones to follow their hearts and to stand up for what they believe in, even if they are alone. She taught them to do the right thing when no one is watching and to never be silenced by fear. In a world that tries to limit and label us, she was dedicated to making each one of her children and grandchildren feel completely unique and original, like they could do anything. Lena was a pillar for unconditional love, she was the one you could always count on to be there when you felt like nobody else was. She was the person to call when something exciting happened and the one you needed to speak to during the tough times. Her empathy was genuine and there was nothing that you couldn’t tell her. Loved ones were never alone in going through the highs and lows of life, she was there for every single one of them and her absence will be fiercely missed.

A memorial will be held on Saturday, July 22 from 3:00-5:00 at All County Funeral Home. The memorial will be followed by a life celebration at Tausha’s house. Please contact Tausha for directions. Lena supported St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, any donations in her honor would be appreciated.
