Obituary for Kenneth 'Skip' Roger Simpson

Kenneth Roger Simpson, (August 25, 1931 – May 23, 2017) Port St Lucie, Florida.

Kenneth “Skip” was the youngest of Emma and James Simpson’s five children. He was born in Bristol, Connecticut.

An interest in aviation spanned his whole life beginning in childhood. He received his pilot’s license at age 16, making him, for a short time, the youngest pilot in the country. In later years he build his own ultra-light aircraft. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict as a flight engineer. A tool and die maker by trade, “Skip” worked in industry in Connecticut and on Cape Cod, Massachusetts until retiring in 1996. During retirement he spent several years as owner and operator of the New Bristol Clock Shop, an antique clock repair business. He also served on Homeowner Association Boards in the communities where he lived both in Sandwich, Massachusetts and on Hutchinson Island, Florida.

Predeceased by his wife of 24 years, Alice Marie Simpson, his two brothers, James and Robert Simpson and two sisters, Doris Carter and Claire Therrien, “Skip” leaves his second wife of 37 years, Sondra, along with his four daughters, Kim Simpson, Kathy Lehmann (Kevin), Kristi Walsh (Dennis), and Kari Glasser (Mark). He also leaves two step-daughters, Natalie DeShaw (Dave) and Dina Dexter (Jefferson) and a delightful group of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a 3rd degree Mason for 54 years and believed strongly in the principles of Masonry. No service is planned. Remember “Skip” as you search for beach glass in the sand, cheer with other NASCAR fans, or when shading your eyes to follow the trail of an airplane flying in the sky above. He is at peace – a new journey has begun.
