Obituary for Joseph Frederick

Joseph (Joe) Frederick, of Port St Lucie, FL, was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Joseph A. and Helen Frederick and grew up in Runnemede, NJ. During his high school years, Joe was an award-winning archer. A United States Air Force veteran and college graduate, Joe worked at Digital Equipment Corporation for many years before moving on to the travel industry and becoming an entrepreneur.

Joe spent his summers at the New Jersey shore, running many group houses and activities, including his beloved “Margaritaville-Avalon” in Avalon, NJ. He was talented in all that he did and touched – he was an avid skier, diver, fisherman, and dancer, he could build and fix anything, and he was an artist. Joe loved music, science and sci-fi, good food and drink, and all things Mopar. He also enjoyed traveling – he organized many ski trips for friends, and cruises were his passion.

On March 14, 2004, Joe married his best friend and love of his life, Meryl Cinnamon. In 2005, Joe and Meryl moved to south Florida to escape the cold winter months and enjoy the Caribbean breezes. He was a lover of all animals, especially squirrels and parrots. Joe was gentle and witty. Friendly and outgoing, he made friends wherever he went. Joe touched many lives and made them all richer and brighter.

Joe passed away on July 31, 2017 at the age of 69 after a short illness and is survived by his wife, Meryl Cinnamon, brothers and sisters-in-law, Mark Cinnamon and Doreen Kelly of Chevy Chase, MD, and Ralph and Nancy Cinnamon of Palm Coast, FL, several nieces and nephews, cousins and aunts on his mother's and father's side, and many, many loving friends. A celebration of Joe will be announced at a later date. In memory of Joe and in lieu of flowers, all are invited to donate to a wildlife, bird, or animal charity, such as the American Bird Conservancy,, Wildlife Conservation Society,, Wildlife Conservation Network,, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation,, or National Audubon Society,
