John F. Perry

1942 – 2018

John F. Perry, age 76, died Sunday evening March 25th, 2018 in the Trustbridge Hospice Inpatient Unit in Bethesda Memorial Hospital, Boynton Beach, FL. John Forsyth was born March 13, 1942, in Colon, Panama to Clarence H Perry and Helen M Forsyth Perry, who preceded him in death. He had one brother, Thomas, who preceded him in death also. He is survived by his wife, Judith, and his son, Brian F., of Washington, D.C. Also, many brothers and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews, and the love of his many Christian family members,“his people”.

John spent his early years of education in Marshfield, and graduated from Wayland Academy, in Beaver Dam, WI. He attended the U. of Wisconsin Milwaukee for several years. On April 1st, 1967, he married Judith Ohm, of Marshfield, WI and was on orders in the active Army to go to the U.S. Army Flight Schools in Ft. Steward, Ga, and Ft. Rucker, Ala. He graduated from fixed wing flight school and served In the Vietnam War, April 1968 to April 1969, flying as a Forward Observer in a single engine plane refereed to as a “Birddog”. His service also included a active duty period in West Germany and then returned back to the WI Army National Guard Aviation Unit learning to fly Huey Helicopters for the Guard. He loved his time in the guards and being able to fly; “it was great to soar like the birds and such a sense of freedom”. He ended his twenty year Military career in the Army Reserves at the rank of Major. His loyalty and Patriotism to his country was always strong right up to the end.

John's working career was primarily working as a Real Estate Appraiser, until his retirement. He was active in his church, serving as a elder, Communion assistant and reader, Bible Class leader, usher, and also in the Gold Coast Via de Cristo Retreat Weekends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am on Friday, April 27th , 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church & School, at 400 N. Swinton Ave., Delray Beach, FL 33444. Military burial rites will follow at 2:45 pm at the South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 S.R.-7/441, Lake Worth FL 33449.
