Obituary for Hermann Frederich Roth

On June 8, 2017 Hermann "Fred" Roth of Vero Beach, FL left us to join his Lord after a long illness. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and well loved by all who knew him.

He was born on September 10, 1937 in Niebelsbach, Germany and came to this country when he was 18. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and became an American citizen while stationed in Hawaii.

He was a member of the Pound Ridge, NY Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years as well as a member of the Pound Ridge Board of Fire Commissioners. He served as President of the Westchester County, NY Association of Fire Districts and was a board member of the New York State Association of Fire Districts.

He worked as a stone-setter of fine jewelry, a trade he learned in Germany. During his long career he crafted many exquisite pieces of custom made jewelry.

He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Rosalie Quade Roth, three children, Margaret Roth, Christian Roth (Kainoa) and Erica Dignan as well as five grandchildren.

He is survived by two sisters, Frieda Meister and Hilde Rosswag (Dieter) as well as several nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents , a brother Al Roth and a sister Margaret Hoffmann.

A funeral mass will be held on June 21st at 10 AM at Holy Cross Church in Vero Beach. He will be buried in the Pound Ridge, NY cemetery in July
