Obituary for Gregory Geletka

R. Gregory Geletka passed away on February 27, 2018 at Martin Memorial Hospital, Stuart, FL at the age of 69.

Greg was born and raised in Warren, OH and lived in North Hutchinson Island and Palm City, FL for the past 5 years, previously residing in Connecticut and Maryland. During the past several years, he utilized his over 40 years of domestic and international real estate and finance experience to consult on raising institutional and private capital for commercial real estate operators and investors. He previously held positions as Chief Operating Officer of Amstar Global Partners, Chief Investment Officer of CIT’s real estate operation, President and COO of Daimler Chrysler Capital Services, and Executive Vice President of Stiles Corporation.

Greg was a born leader and a friend to everyone he met due to his endless kindness and generosity. He was a man of great character, always putting others’ needs before his own. Family was his primary priority. He devoted countless hours coaching sports teams and never missed a theater performance or dance recital. A lover of other cultures, work and travel with his family took him around the world and across six continents. He was a defiantly loyal Cleveland sports fan, especially the Cleveland Indians.

A devout Orthodox Christian, Greg was very involved in St. James of the Apostle Orthodox Church as the President of the Parish Council. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Cynthia Geletka of Palm City, FL, son Christopher Geletka of New York, NY, daughter Jillian Geletka of New York, NY, and brother Theodore Geletka of Brecksville, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Nadia Geletka, and his sister, Claudia Geletka.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 2, 2018, 6-8 pm at St. James the Apostle Orthodox Church, 2201 SE Airoso Blvd, Port St Lucie, FL 34984. The funeral service will be held at
10 am on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at St. James of the Apostle Orthodox Church, with Father Maximus Urbanowicz as Celebrant. The burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 2001 SW Murphy Rd, Palm City, FL 34990.
