Obituary for Gilbert Jennings Moore

Gilbert Jennings Moore, 78, passed suddenly on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at the Martin County North Hospital, Stuart, Florida.

He was the husband of Gay Ann Moore. They shared 59 wonderful years of marriage together. Born September 2, 1939, in Rose Hill, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Cyrus J. Moore and Annie Grace Fussell.

Gil was a 20 year retired Officer in the U.S. Navy and worked for many years as the Data Processing Manager for the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology, Bethesda, MD. He was also employed for several years by The American Society of Human Genetics, Bethesda, MD. Gil was a member of and past president of the Saint Mary’s County MD Lions Club.

Gilbert enjoyed boating, learning new languages, operating his ham radio, and playing musical instruments. He loved to tell jokes and his personality made others laugh with him. Since retiring to Florida, he would relax by spending time beautifying his yard and traveling the world every chance he could. But more than anything he loved being with his family.
He will be missed by his son Scott Everett Moore (Judith), his three daughters, Michele Moore Keplinger (Paul), Kimberly Ann Lepore (John), Lori Ann Moore, one brother Donald Moore, sister in law Nina Moore; 9 grandchildren Justin McClanahan, Megan Lee, Ryan Moore, Jordan Cummings, Kelsey Gonzalez, Scott Jennings Moore, Amanda Moore, Nathan Reichard, Landen Reichard, and 10 great grandchildren.

Gil always said, “The Most Important Thing in the World is LOVE!”

There will be a memorial service at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, MD in the spring, exact date to be announced.
