Obituary for George Edward Uhazie

George Edward Uhazie passed away peacefully at his home in Lantana, FL at the age of 97, on June 14, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Marion, and his daughter Karen Van Joolen. He is survived by his son Gary Uhazie along with his wife Barb, daughter Janet Kysia Nadeau along with her husband Deziel, 8 Grandchildred, and 4 Great Grandchildren.

George was born March 14,1920 in Uniontown, PA, as a identical twin, the 8th child of 14, with 1 surviving sibling, Leona Narkus of Warren, MI. He grew up with a love for sports. In high school he was the captain of the basketball team, and the quarterback of the football team.

George served in the US Army In World War II as a 1st Sargent of the 42nd infantry division that liberated the Dachau Nazi concentration camp on April 29, 1945. After the war he married the love of his life. He earned a bachelor's degree in the Science of Engineering, and was employed at GM Fischer Body for 30 years in Detroit, MI. He and Marion built their own home, and raised their family together.

George was a humble soul that lived an honorable life. He believed in hard work and had a strong love and commitment to family. He will be dearly missed. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 22 from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm at Del Lago Chapel, 131 S Lakeside Dr, Lake Worth, FL 33460. with a funeral procession to immediate follow to the South Florida National Veterans Cemetery for a honors service. Afterward will be a gathering to share a meal and memories. The family invites all their family and friends to join them to honor this Great Man.
