Obituary for Charles Raymond Thompson

Charles "Chuck" Raymond Thompson, 80, was born in Portageville, MO. He picked cotton in Mississippi and Arkansas, where he resided until he graduated High School. In 1957 he joined the United States Navy. He joined the Navy to see the world in which he did the next four years. He was stationed in Jacksonville, FL. He came to Miami one weekend and met his wife to be Paulette Hughes.

Chuck started working at Pratt and Whitney in West Palm Beach in 1962 on Boeing airplane motors then transferred to Cape Canaveral Space Center in Titusville, FL where he worked on the Apollo space programs. By the time he left the space center he received his degree in Air Conditioning at Brevard College. He moved his family to Jensen Beach where he had his own company for 35 years, Thompson's AC and Refrigeration.

Chuck had many outside activities such as Shade Tree Mechanic, Jet Skiing, Water Skiing. He loved ATC's and Off Road 4 wheeling, with his favorite jeep called Mud Puppy. Along with camping, shrimping, fishing, and frogging. He also like to go zip lining and white water rafting in North Carolina. Chuck was a bowler and participated in several bowling leagues. He also had many fun & memorable trips with the family to Disney World, Epcot, Sea World, Dolly Wood and Cypress Gardens..

Chuck was predeceased by his father: Clyde Thompson, mother: Christine Thompson and sister: Melva Thompson Stevenson.

Chuck is survived by his wife: Paulette Thompson of Jensen Beach, FL ; children: Keith Thompson and wife Terry of Port St. Lucie, Fl; Gwen Ianieri and husband Jeff of Stuart, FL; Kevin Thompson of Jensen Beach; granddaughter: Katie Krug and husband Kevin on Port St. Lucie, FL and many extended family in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Ohio and Arkansas.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 16th at 11:30 am at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2221 NE Savannah Road, Jensen Beach, FL 34957, followed by a funeral service at 12:15 pm. The family has invited friends for reception in the fellowship hall after the service. Burial will be held privately at All Saints Cemetery, Jensen Beach, FL
